Who’s even heard of Italy’s Molise region? One writer for the cultural magazine Italy Segreta states: “I’ve heard Molise compared to The Chronicles of Narnia: step foot into the region, and you’ve entered a land all its own. And then there is the creativity of Italians that shines just like their newest word ‘Molisn’t.’”
Molise has its share of Romanesque churches, hill towns, castles, ancient ruins and crystal clear water. This is the birthplace of fusilli, often served with lamb ragu. The tanginess of the teardrop-shaped caciocavallo cheese harkens back to the time of Moorish dominance; delicious grilled and served with fresh bread and you’ll try it at its source, a mountain town that’s also home to the phenomenal bell foundry that supplies the Vatican.
