Italy Has A Secret: Unearth Calabria in Fall 2027

In the company of other curious women.

Let’s be honest….do you know where Calabria, Italy is located? There are many reasons that most of us will answer “no”. Adagio intends to put Calabria on your map. And we’ll be doing that in the company of women only in fall 2027.

The short answer: Calabria is one of Italy’s 20 regions; the country looks like a boot and Calabria is its toe. This region’s stunning coastlines stretch between the Tyrrhenian and Ionian Seas in Italy’s southernmost reaches.

The short answer: Calabria is one of Italy’s 20 regions; the country looks like a boot and Calabria is its toe. This region’s stunning coastlines stretch between the Tyrrhenian and Ionian Seas in Italy’s southernmost reaches. Pristine beaches, rugged mountains, and charming villages create a diverse and captivating landscape. Calabria offers a slow journey into an Italy deeply rooted in culture and natural beauty. Known for its rich history with strong influences from Greece and Albania, Calabria features ancient ruins, medieval castles, and historic towns like Reggio Calabria and Tropea.

Calabria is stunning sea; deep history; generosity; and a languorous lifestyle that we’ll fully embrace in the course of our ten days together.  Come with us to Calabria. Embrace surprise.

Due to the nature of the accommodations on this trip, we are limited to a maximum of 12 guests.

First guests to sign up will be given priority for the best rooms at our first stop (three nights in the fisherman’s town of Scilla).

South of Venice, north of Abruzzo

A Taste of Le Marche

South of Venice, north of Abruzzo

While many travelers rush to the glittering coastlines of Amalfi or the iconic streets of Florence, our short break in the southern Marche region quietly rewards those who stray from the well-trodden paths. Discover Ascoli Piceno, the region’s hippest town. We’ll also visit smaller hill towns with stunning panoramic views … and the narrowest alley in Italy; a woman-run winery that has dedicated its efforts to saving a nearly extinct grape; and Offida, where making bobbin lace is still a thing and gourmet food is served in a former stable.

We invite you to savor life as the locals do in Le Marche, one delightful moment at a time.

Molise — Italy’s Adriatic Surprise

Molise: where the people are the land

Who’s even heard of Italy’s Molise region? One writer for the cultural magazine Italy Segreta states: “I’ve heard Molise compared to The Chronicles of Narnia: step foot into the region, and you’ve entered a land all its own. And then there is the creativity of Italians that shines just like their newest word ‘Molisn’t.’”

Molise has its share of Romanesque churches, hill towns, castles, ancient ruins and crystal-clear water. This week you’ll be based right by that water in the medieval town of Termoli; and you’ll enjoy all of the above attractions in a slow, adagio way. Note that food and wine are strengths here. But in the end, the Molise experience is about the art of living. We work hard to offer you a top-notch holiday that includes genuine encounters with the locals. Know that you are investing in our quarter century+ of building long-term relationships, handpicked properties and carefully crafted itineraries. You belong here.

Splendors of Sicily — Fall 2025

A Tantalizing Cultural Mosaic

The allure of Sicily lies in its contrasts. Palermo, cradle of the Mediterranean and “a city of extremes, a mixture of panache and poverty.” Along our west to east route we visit Agrigento’s magical Greek temples; top wineries; meals that are tantalizing cultural mosaics. Majestic Mt. Etna and its surrounding cities, once the center of Magna Graecia, mark the end of our 10-day adventure.

Sicily Short Break: The Aeolian Islands in June 2025

By sea and by land

The Aeolian Islands are a volcanic archipelago located off the coast of northeastern Sicily. Said to be named after Aeolus, the mythical ruler of the winds, the dreamy Aeolian islands are one of southern Italy’s greatest natural and cultural treasures. The group includes seven islands – each one with its own identity. We’ll travel around a few of the most beautiful by catamaran, and spend two nights on Salina. The verdant valleys and charming towns of Salina have earned it the reputation of being the prettiest of the Aeolians. We’ll enjoy some of its local products, like freshly grown capers and Malvasia dessert wine, complete with a delicious saline note.

In Italian, our entire experience can be summed up in a single word: Perfetto. Thank you, Claudia, for creating a journey that exceeded every expectation and provided us with memories we will treasure for a lifetime.

— Emily and Bill, Midlothian, VA – June 2026

A new view of Italy! After experiencing Rome and Florence and lots of Tuscany and Umbria in the past, this trip to Amalfi was exceptional. Well paced to enjoy today’s gifts of life on the coast while also visiting historically significant sites.

— Ginny, Williamsburg, VA, May 2019

[Our private guide in Rome] was passionate, engaging and flexible – would always divert to a site we were close to if we expressed interest. Her excitement about our final stop: the San Nicolas in Carcere church with its Roman ruins was a high point. She loves the site, knows it inside out, is friendly with the sextant and inspired great enthusiasm.
