Andrea Bocelli al Fresco–Summer 2015 in Tuscany
November 7, 2014
Fifteen fortunate couples will have the chance — and this may be the last chance — to enjoy seats in the Executive Section at Andrea Bocelli’s annual concert at the Teatro del Silenzio (“Theater of Silence”). A group of Adagio travelers visited this stunning space last month during our time near Bocelli’s hometown of Lajatico in Tuscany. The famous tenor orchestrated the building of the open-air theater in the middle of the rolling hills of Tuscany in 2006, stipulating that it would host one concert per year — his, of course. The catch is that the lifespan of the theater was to be only 10 years; and 2015 marks the 10th anniversary. Who’s to say if this will also be his last concert in the Teatro del Silenzio?
Bocelli’s cult following stalks the tickets as soon as the summer date is announced each year, and they sell out almost immediately. Bocelli recently announced that he will perform at the Teatro del Silenzio on August 2, 2015. For this special 10th anniversary concert, the maestro will stage Puccini’s Turandot. World famous conducter Zubin Mehta will direct the Coro da Camera del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino (chorus of 80 elements) and the Cameristi del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino (orchestra of 70 elements).
